A little about me and my experience with the PUA seminar in Norway. I am 31 year old, for the most of my life I was obese and to say that I was a AFC would be an understatement. I used to think that it was because of my body weight. With some changing circumstances in my life in 2010, I decided to change my body, loosing something like 70 lbs I was ready for my new life with a great social life, not to mention a life with female attention.
Guess what? no such luck, as Mystery explained with Joe D, body means shit in the game and this is something I became painfully aware of, however at the time I had never heard of Mystery, not until summer 2011. When a friend who is a "self-thought" PUA told me about him. Now I have heard of the game before and I always used to think that it was hog wash, all the "tricks" to pull women and social dynamic stuff. But hell it was a tv show so might as well see it, I downloaded and watched The Pick Up artist from VH1, I found it intriguing, I was still unsure of the validity of it. I mean let's face it I don't put much stock in the reality of "Reality TV", especially one produced by American television. But either way I was curious on both the art itself and the man known as Mystery. The first (and the only book until now) I have read was Revelation, the thing that struck me most about it was that even with the thought "does this shit really work?" reeling in my head, there were certain things in the book, things beyond the gambits, stories and tricks. There was a description of human nature, human behavior and psychology. I have always been fascinated by human beings and when I am calm enough I am actually a fairly good reader of people (as a few I know will attest to) there were things there that I understood, things that I could see. What you ask? well, ever met those people who are naturally apt at socializing, those who can hold a crowd in the palm of their hands and girls more or less throw themselves at them? Yes there are people who are just naturals at certain things, but read Revelation or watch the bootcamp DVDs and you will find the answer to "why". You will see what about their personalities makes people act like they do around them, explained in great detail in the book, its those qualities that the book as well as Mystery try to teach people. Seeing this, I was more inclined to believe in the art so I started reading the pages and forums. I even started to go out again and try, but I failed miserably and soon gave up, but I knew that I did not fail cause of the system doesn't work, but cause I could not work up enough balls to try it out right. Anyway I wrote to Venusianart and was put in touch with Discovery, I was surprised to find out that Mystery and Discovery were going to have a seminar in Norway, I thought it must be kismat to have Mystery come to Norway, after a little thinking, I decided to join the seminar with in-field training. Why did I have to think? a few reasons, I didn't want to attend just the seminar, cause I knew the theories, remembering what's written on a page is not exactly a difficult task. Doing it in the field is however, but then again the total package did cots a few shiny dollars. Let's face it most people who are not in the lifestyle will always think "this is bullshit, fake, no way it works" "Do I really want to use all this money? what good will it do me?" but either way I jumped on it. March came at a steady pace, soon it was time to get out of bed and set my sights toward Oslo. I must admit that the thoughts of "why the F*** am I doing this?" lay on my mind like a mist. As I arrived to the designated location, it was easy to see where the gathering was, and as if the men gathered around one person, all exited wouldn't be hint enough. Seeing the man at the center of the circle as tall as a flagpost made it fairly simple to find the group. There he was Mystery himself, after gathering, we all went to the seminar location, it was a place behind Rockafeller, a place I wouldn't be able to find in a million years even after being there all weekend. It looked like some shady drug den. Though once we got in and climbed the 50 flights of stairs to the top floor, the room of the seminar was PERFECT, it was actually this little private club, almost as if the venue was created for this very reason. First of was Mystery, and truth be told he was very much like you see him on the DVDs, he has this calm nature about him and boy when he starts talking, YOU listen. He can draw you in with his great story telling (bromance anyone??) at the same time he is a incredibly intelligent individual. Calm and down to earth, we went through all the parts of being a social artist. YES I said social artist not pick up artist, cause as far as I can tell the art is really about being proficient in social dynamics, the picking up the girls part is almost like a side effect of that very talent. Then Discovery took the stage, I had read his bio but didn't know much about him. He was different then Mystery, though equally talented in the game itself. More sticking to the point and following the agenda of the lessons. Mystery however loves the art of teaching itself so much that one question and he can talk about that subject for hours at end. I am sure that if no other coaches were present he could sit and teach non-stop for a entire day and not ever think about it. Both guys are really cool and even in the breaks were more than happy to answer question, which we had many of (of course with Mystery, start asking him questions while he is smoking and he WILL forget the time and the seminar lol) All us guys listened intently and to be honest the level of PUA was very diverse from someone like me who has no clue, to guys who have been doing it well for a odd number of years. But NO ONE was in anyway a dushbag that many will have you believe that a PUA is. Not even the masters like Mystery and Discovery are any kind of sleezballs, they are both normal, down to earth, nice people, they just have a incredible zest for life and a incredible skill set. allowing them to do what they do and they are happy to teach others. I am not going to bother going through everything that we learned, if you want to know the theories you can read the book and you will know what they teach. But the experience, the examples and the demonstrations can never really be portrayed as they deserve in the books. Come nightfall all of the guys doing in-field went out, and at that point I really understood what it was all about, Discovery the king of peacocking, Mystery in a gangster style suit with fedora (not to unlike what I was wearing) their personas started to come alive, with a few more lessons on the walk to the club we got ready for the field. Lock and load... Boy that sucked, I went in there and shut down like a Chinese restaurant next to a vet, but Mystery just kept pushing me, urging me forward. He more or less kept me from drowning cause I would have. If I had been alone I would have left 30 mins in. But I did start opening, it wasn't perfect but hell at least it was better than what I had been doing. Discovery would pass by and give discreet advice and I did start having fun. Though for me the fear of the cold approach never ceased and I bombed completely on the material given. I barreled through though, thanks to Mystery and kept trying (ohh yesss full fledged bromance, I can hear church bells). It was amazing seeing the guys work, and surprising. The reason that it was surprising, was because another sticking point in my mind when it came to the seminar, was that I was unsure it would work in Norway. I mean women are different here, ummm aren't they? Not to mention that many Norwegians (or little nogges as Discovery so nicknamed us) are not all that good with English. Boy was I wrong, in class they thought us that it does not matter WHAT you say, but how you say it. They are VERY right, cause you could see it working, each and every time. It was also interesting to see how the different personalities of the two at work. Discovery is this flashy, cocky and the very epitome of PUA, he goes in and takes over the room "all eyes on me", its impressive to see how people, not just women react to him and just know that what they teach works, because you can see it in the field. During the night I came back many times to Mystery to ask and get feedback, all the time wondering why he was not playing the game with us. I figured it was because he was in "teacher mode". When the night was over and I was driving back to home, running the events of the night in my head, is when I realized how wrong I had been. Mystery was playing, just in a different way, while Discovery is a flame who comes in and takes the room with a storm. Mystery is a ghost, he can sit at one end of the club and his influence starts to spread, gravitating people to him. Like pebble dropped into a pond, the little silent ripples soon taking up all the space. Yes it was indeed fun to see the masters at work, but it was fun to try and play as well, to learn to let go of the outcome and how little it actually means, to hang out with great guys. The night ended and home we went, had a few hours of sleep and back to it the morning after. That is when I realized that Discovery had been paying more attention then I originally had thought as he had a note with debrief for me. Again the morning was spent going through theoretical knowledge, roleplays and assignments, we were ready to take the night. Heading out I made a request to Mystery, he told me from the night before that had I been on The Pick Up Artist, based on last nights performance I would be wearing the yellow medallion, I asked him that when he feels that I deserve the red medallion he will give me my PUA nick, during the night it came to him.... "Instigator", so thus I have taken that name in the forum but I not yet earned it. In some ways the second night was harder and in others it was easier, but things changed as soon as I started to let go and go with the flow. The attention and advice from the coaches were AMAZING, especially Mystery, there was really no point in the night were I felt that I couldn't go to him for help. Discovery would take a hold of us boys and give us tasks not to mention try get us to work on wing man dynamics. The night ended we did our goodbyes and a big part of me was sad to see it end. Come Sunday morning, was my life all changed and wonderful? first of all I slept through most of Sunday, and no, life is no different than it was on Thursday before the seminar. Look there are no magic pills that can change your life to what you want, and anyone telling you that they can change your life over night are snake-oil sellers, they are LYEING. Like the AB-doers you buy late at night from TV, promising you a changed body in 12 weeks, the only thing they do is make your wallet slimmer. What IS different about me though is how I feel about life and what I learned. They don't give you confidence, no one can do that, they give you tools to improve your life. But the best of hammers are useless without the proficient hand to wield it. The only difference between who you are, and what you want to be, is what you do. It is now up to me. How life will pan out, I am not sure. What I DO know is that what they teach works, I know that Mystery is a down to earth great guy and not the slimy player some people think he is. I know that in-field training was WELL worth the deneros. To be honest. IF it had been that the only thing I walked away with from this weekend is a friend like Mystery, it would still be worth every penny. Though should it go my way, do not be surprised to see me as a coach some day.... This is Instigator to be, signing out (Oh and I am fairly proud of the fact that I managed to gross Mystery out)

Did you stop reading at that point? cause if you read on you will see me write this
"is when I realized how wrong I had been. Mystery was playing, just in a different way, while Discovery is a flame who comes in and takes the room with a storm. Mystery is a ghost, he can sit at one end of the club and his influence starts to spread, gravitating people to him. I just was to occupied in my own head space to notice

I remember when I was in-field with Mystery (it was actually more like a 1-on-1 that night)
He was having a good time with people, just small stuff. and I was a bit lost and ask him "could you demo a proper approach for me? I' just have to see this myself" and he said "I've been doing them ALL night...." and then it hit me. Every single one of his approaches was a microcalibrated non-opinion opener and it was so nonchalant, so smooth and so natural and flowing that I simply did not notice he was running game. From someone who knew the game, watching this man run game, I couldn't tell he was doing it. That is absolute mastery. Instigator, I think you got the same experience |

Exactly Techniq, I mean I am no PUA, I am like one of those guys who joined The Pick Up Artist you know, completely blank. I didn't realize what he was doing until the very end of the night and I was awestruck. Like he has surpassed the tools that he teaches, he IS THE pick up artist
